Countdown to New Year

Count down the days, hours, minutes and seconds to any date: a birthday, a wedding, a product launch, a holiday or a deadline. Name your event, pick the date and time, go fullscreen, and copy a link so friends can watch the same countdown.

How to make a countdown

  1. Type the name of your event in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Pick the date and time. The countdown uses the time zone of the device it is opened on.
  3. Turn on Flip cards for a retro split-flap look, if you like.
  4. Press Copy countdown link to share it, or F to go fullscreen.

Questions

Is my countdown saved?

Yes, in your browser. The link holds the date and name, so anyone who opens it sees your countdown, and nothing is stored on a server.

What happens when the date arrives?

The numbers are replaced by a message that your event is here.

Does it work across time zones?

The date and time are read in the viewer's own time zone, so a party at 20:00 means 20:00 wherever the link is opened.

How do I go fullscreen?

Press F on a keyboard, or use the fullscreen button in the bar at the bottom. Press Esc or F again to leave. On iPhone, Safari does not allow real fullscreen, so add the page to your home screen for the cleanest view.
