New Year Countdown

How to use

A live New Year countdown to midnight on 31 December in your own time zone, in big fullscreen numbers. Put it on a TV or projector for the party and watch the last seconds tick down together. At midnight it says Happy New Year.

Setting it up for a party

  1. Open the page on the TV, a laptop connected to it, or a projector.
  2. Turn on Flip cards for a retro split-flap look.
  3. Press F for fullscreen and leave the mouse still so the controls fade out.
  4. Check that the device's clock and time zone are right before the night.

Tips for the last minute

Keep the screen awake: the page asks the browser to stop it sleeping, but also plug laptops in and switch off screensavers. If you want to count to a different time, such as a party at another time zone's midnight, set it in the event countdown.
