A plain white screen at full brightness, ready to go fullscreen. Use it as a soft light for photos, makeup and video calls, as a light box for tracing, or to clean and check your monitor.
How to use the white screen
- Press F or the fullscreen button so the whole screen turns white.
- Turn your display brightness to maximum.
- If pure white looks too cold next to your room lights, move the warmth slider toward 5000K.
- Move the mouse or tap to bring the controls back. Press Esc to leave fullscreen.
Ways to use a white screen
- Light for video calls
- Put the white screen on a second monitor or tablet next to your webcam. See video call lighting for a softer setup.
- Selfies and makeup
- Face the screen in a dim room. White light shows true skin tones better than a warm bulb.
- Product photos
- Use a large monitor as a softbox for small objects, or as a clean white background behind them.
- Tracing and copying drawings
- Lay a tablet flat, put your drawing and a sheet of thin paper on top, and trace. The tracing light page has tips.
- Reading light
- At lower brightness, a white screen makes an even light for reading a book at night.
- Cleaning your monitor
- Dust, fingerprints and streaks show up clearly against white, so you can see what you have missed.
- Finding dead pixels
- Look across the screen in fullscreen for dots that stay black. Check the black, red, green and blue screens too.
- Checking display uniformity
- A good display shows the same white from corner to corner. Tinted or darker edges are normal on cheap panels.
- Dust on a camera sensor
- Photograph the white screen at a small aperture, out of focus. Dark specks in the photo are dust on the sensor.
- Blank white page
- Show an empty white page on a projector, or use it as a plain background for a screen recording.
Tips for better light
The page can only be as bright as your display. Turn your screen brightness all the way up in your system settings or with the brightness keys, and switch off battery saver and night mode, which dim and tint the screen.
Plain white on most screens is around 6600K, which is cooler than indoor bulbs. If you look blue on camera, slide the warmth toward 5000–5600K. Hold a phone further away than you think: close up, a small screen lights only part of your face.
Questions
How do I go fullscreen?
Press F on a keyboard, or use the fullscreen button in the bar at the bottom. Press Esc or F again to leave. On iPhone, Safari does not allow real fullscreen, so add the page to your home screen for the cleanest view.
Why isn't the white screen brighter?
The page always shows full white at 100%. The real brightness comes from your display, so turn it up in your system settings and switch off battery saver and night mode.
Can I use a white screen to find dead pixels?
Yes. In fullscreen, look across the screen for dots that stay black. A stuck pixel often shows on only one color, so check the red, green and blue screens as well.
Can I use it as a light for photos?
Yes. A large monitor makes a soft light for portraits and small objects. Turn off other lights in the room so the white screen is the main light.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account, no download and no time limit. It runs in your browser and never asks for camera, microphone or location access.
