Monitor Light turns any screen into a soft, adjustable light. Pick white, a color, a ring light or a moving effect, set the brightness and warmth, then go fullscreen. Your last light is remembered for next time.
How to use it
- Pick a light in the bar at the bottom: White, Color, Ring or Effects.
- Set the brightness and warmth with the sliders, or start from one of the presets.
- Press F or the fullscreen button, so nothing but the light is on screen.
- Move the mouse or tap the screen to bring the controls back. Press Esc to leave fullscreen.
What you can use it for
- Video calls
- A screen beside your webcam lights your face evenly for Zoom, Teams and Meet.
- Selfies and makeup
- The ring light gives soft front light and a round catchlight in the eyes.
- Product photos
- A white screen works as a small softbox for photographing jewelry, food and small objects.
- Tracing
- Lay thin paper on a tablet and trace through it, like a light box.
- Cleaning and testing a display
- White and black screens show dust, smudges, dead pixels and backlight bleed.
- Mood light
- Warm candle, fireplace, aurora and party effects turn a spare screen into ambient light.
Getting the most light from your screen
The page can only be as bright as your display. Turn your screen brightness all the way up in your system settings or with the brightness keys, and switch off battery saver and night mode, which dim and tint the screen.
A bigger screen gives softer, stronger light. A laptop works, but an external monitor or a TV lights a face far better. Sit about an arm's length away, with the screen in front of you and slightly above eye level. The step-by-step guide covers placement, color and common mistakes.
Warm or cool light
Warmth is measured in kelvin (K). 2700K is the orange of a household bulb, 5600K matches daylight, 6600K is your screen's plain white, and higher values look blue. Match the main light in your room: warmer in the evening, around 5600K by a window during the day.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account, no download and no time limit. It runs in your browser and never asks for camera, microphone or location access.
Will my screen turn off while I use it?
Where your browser supports it, the page keeps the screen awake while it is open. If yours still dims, raise the sleep timer in your system settings.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. Open the page in your browser, turn the screen brightness up and tap the light to show or hide the controls.
Can I save a light I like?
Yes. Open More, name the setup and save it in this browser. You can also copy a link that opens the exact same light on any device.
How do I go fullscreen?
Press F on a keyboard, or use the fullscreen button in the bar at the bottom. Press Esc or F again to leave. On iPhone, Safari does not allow real fullscreen, so add the page to your home screen for the cleanest view.
